He started in the industry in 1986 at the Red Dome Gold Mine in Queensland where he worked for eleven years as an analyst then supervisor then as Quality Assurance and Metallurgical Officers where he was instrumental in developing the industry Certificate in Mining and Metallurgy - Laboratory Stream. After a short sabbatical doing volunteer work overseas, David returned to the industry as a specialist technician at BHP-Billiton’s Olympic Dam mine before joining Western Metals Mt Gordon Operations where he worked as Quality Management Coordinator looking after all aspects of copper product quality. David joined the JKMRC as Senior Laboratory Technician in 2002 and became Pilot Plant Supervisor in 2004. In 2006, David validated the JK Floatability Index as part of his Masters in Mineral Processing after which he joined JKTech as Flotation Specialist before taking over as manager of the flotation group in 2009 and then once again utilising his laboratory experience as the Sumner Park testing facility was added to his portfolio in the role of Metallurgical Services Manager in 2011.In 2014 David joined SNF Flomin to lead the technical direction of their flotation business as Technical Industry Director - Sulfide Minerals. In 2017 he returned to Australia to join Core Resources as GM - Laboratory Operations before moving to Metso, later Metso:Outotec, in various consulting and business development roles. In 2022 he returned to JKTech, with a wealth of industry experience, in the role of Contract Engineer.
