Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group Pty Limited (NCIG) owns and operates one of Australia's major coal export terminals with proximate rail, storage and shiploading facilities and associated infrastructure. The Terminal is located on Kooragang Island at the Port of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia and is strategically placed at the mouth of the Hunter River, approximately 160 kilometres from Sydney. It has a strong logistical connection as part of the Hunter Valley Coal Chain integrated coal export infrastructure operation servicing long life coal mines in the Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Gunnedah, Gloucester and Western Coalfields of New South Wales by providing access to port infrastructure to export their coal production. NCIG's Terminal has been operating for over three years and was expanded to an installed capacity of 66 Mtpa on 30 June 2013.
