Investigated the affect of afferent synaptic activity on dendritic arborization. Did so by cutting the glossopharyngal nerve in hamsters at 18 days of age and examining dendritic structure in the nucleus of the solitary tract through Golgi-Cox staining.

Work in the Hatten lab examining cerebellar granular cell migration in the developing mouse cerebellum. Specifically examined the localization of the protein Astrotactin-1 (ASTN1) in migrating cerebellar granular cells and their trafficking in endosomes, using pH-sensitive GFP derivative tagging.

Worked in the Alder/Thakker-Varia lab in the Cell Biology and Neuroscience Department of UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The lab focused on the mechanism of the neuropeptide VGF and sought to examine its dependence on synaptic activity in causing proliferation of neural stem cells. The research employed BrdU and MAP2 immunocytochemistry on neural progenitor cells derived from adult rat hippocampi, and examined growth in the presence of VGF as well as various synaptic activity antagonists.
