Technical responsibilities include:- Lead a team of research engineers and software engineers to extract and model 3D objects for use in constructing 3D maps. Projects are focused on extracting map primitives from raw data by performing object detection in lidar, 3D positioning of objects detected in imagery, and interpreting data in the context of a road network (road surface modeling, etc.). - Oversee algorithm development and implementation from proof-of-concept stage to production- Develop evaluation processes and criteria to understand algorithm performance and failure modes- Develop tools for data collection and quality checking- Oversee data collection and data management for both training and evaluation data sets- Oversee the development of reusable, maintainable software. Avoid duplication of effort and rework through strong use design reviews, code reviews, and detailed testing.- Achieve system optimization and scalability so that algorithms can be executed on millions of kilometers of the worlds roads.- Writing and continuously maintaining internal and external facing project and process documentationManagement responsibilities include:- Working with customers to define requirements, timelines, and ways of working- Ensuring effective communication between internal teams- Implementing Agile processes for project planning and tracking- Reporting to senior management- Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new team members- Understanding team members strengths for effective delegation of work
