Within the role of Quality Assurance Engineer I am required to support the business within an assurance capacity across all work streams across the pressure tiers from distribution up to transmission.On the above 2 bar pressure tier I was required to review data books for completeness and quality to ensure the important and relevant records were retained for future use as well as ensuring the design had been met. My current responsibilities include evaluating new products and techniques fitness for purpose before entering the network as per the NGN G23 procedure to which I am the technical authority level. This means working closely with the innovation team, standards team, procurement team and suppliers.I undertake quality inspections and work as part of a PE steering group to monitor and regulate the quality of PE installations. I am required to undertake investigations into product failures, this can be looking into working practices or establishing if there are any manufacturing issues.I also visit key suppliers to inspect and audit against certain criteria to ensure that the products we procure meet relevant Gas Industry Standards.I have previously worked as a Health and Safety Adviser for the Major Projects department within Northern Gas Networks. My primary role included providing support and professional advice to both the management team and all other employees as well as ensuring contractors are compliant with both documentation.Previously within Northern Gas Networks I worked as a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor for the Operations side of the business with a main proportion of the role actively coaching and educating employees in utility avoidance techniques. Other duties included advising line managers on HSE matters, ensuring compliance with both direct employees and contractors as well as carrying out accident and incident investigations.
