Lead the “Business as Usual” Server Operations run team for a 28,000 user federal government enterprise, leading staff across multiple locations, supporting a predominantly Microsoft stack Services across 2 data centres and 4 national sites. This position has allowed me to expand my personal leadership style and experience, further developing as a leader. The range of technical responsibilities in this role have been beyond my existing technical experience, leading me to lean heavily on my leadership, rather than technical, skills to develop solutions and resolve incidents.ACHIEVEMENTS-As part of a larger Data Centre relocation, not yet complete, project, the BAU team supported a refresh of the Virtual infrastructure. complete install of new infrastructure in all data centres with a capacity uplift for several services. -Restructured Operational Teams bringing a subcontracted team in house, creating a better Operational culture and increasing revenue. This Transition took 12 months to plan and complete, it resulted in a significant change to the contract commercially.-Delivered into service a major Infrastructure Consolidation Project, reducing the number of sites with infrastructure (Exchange, end user data shares, AD) from 28 to 6. The operations team had significant responsibilities in the installation and operational support for this project which allowed the run team to significantly improve and automate support and maintenance processes.-Transitioned Departmental storage to an “as a service” offering, decommissioning aged infrastructure, increasing value and reliability for the customer.-Refocussed operational team with three focus areas: Security, Monitoring and Maintenance. This transitioned the team from a reactive to proactive and preventative mindset, reducing incidents and improving reliability. A significant factor in this was that the Infrastructure consolidation project allowed us to implement better toolsets.

• Network maintenance and management: Manage 70 staff across five locations around Australia, with responsibility for supporting and coaching eight team leaders (direct reports). Manage operational performance and working relationship with operations customer DCS-CAN, contract customer DMO and system sustainment contract (Boeing), working with all parties to manage all schedule, upgrade, obsolescence and failures. Provide monthly and bi-annual progress reports against KPIs, monitoring system and personnel performance to ensure targets are met. Manage relationships with sub-contractors and equipment and services suppliers (including Dell, Honeywell, Telstra, government and ADF agencies, and small local contractors). Maintain and improve ISO 9001 quality system for DHFCS, EHS compliance ISO 14001 and 18001 certifications, updating policy and procedures to meet legislative and corporate requirements across five states. • Facilities management: Manage all fault resolution and change activities for network systems and facilities at DHFCS sites around Australia. Maintain IT systems (Windows, UNIX, networking systems, TCP/IP and E1, HF transmission and receive systems) as well as air conditioning, diesel backup and diesel generation, security, CCTV and fire alarm systems.
