•Design, and implement the security,Social,health,safety and Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (SEMMP) of the contractor. Supervise the implementation of the security, Social and Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (SEMMP) of the contractor.• Design measurement sheets for Environment, Occupational Health and Safety, and HIV/AIDS (soft engineering).• Engage the Environmental and Safety Manager (ESM) of the contractor in sensitizing the communities within the roads corridor on the benefits of the road project.• Check safety compliance on the road and construction sites.• Design temporary road signs and diversions as per drawings.• Liaise with police to ensure contractor’s fleet complies with required standards.• Assist in processing compensation for injured workers.• Liaise with the compensation team and local leaders on issues related to compensation of local communities, government and other agencies and the private sector for property likely to be affected by the road project.• Liaise with the private sector, district heads of departments and municipal authorities on plans for relocation of utilities likely to be affected by the road project.• Assist in the development of waste management plan and procedures for the contractor.• Engage the Environmental and Safety consultant of the contractor in the development of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).•Supervise the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management Plan of the contractor.•Supervise sensitisation of the workers on occupational health and safety measures. •Liaise with the Environmental and Safety manager of the contractor on issues of health and safety.•Engage the contractor in the development of strategies for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Audits (EAs) especially for quarries.•Advice on frameworks to integrate environmental decision making into the daily operations of the contractor
