I developed new Bioenergy course for 2nd year college students. The eight week distance learning course includes conversion of biomass to energy (heat/electricity) including District Heating, as well as the conversion of biomass to gas, liquid and solids fuels. I will also be teaching the course starting in January 2015.

Research and Report Writing • Conduct research regarding best practices / technical innovations in energy planning, energy efficiency and alternative energy (as these relate to land use, transportation, buildings, energy supply and other aspects of community infrastructure) • Write focused reports, studies, guides, and/or other materials designed for local governments, both printed and on-line • Provide advice and assist other CEA staff in periodic updates to CEA websiteConsultation, Outreach and Engagement • Support an outreach program that addresses the energy sustainability and GHG emissions reduction priorities of local governments in British Columbia • Survey and consult with local governments; establish ongoing liaison with elected officials and staff • Design and deliver presentations to municipal councils and/or local government staff during workshops, conferences or other capacity-building events regarding district energy, building energy efficiency, and the application of renewable energy systems within communities • Conduct promotional activities at conferences and tradeshows • Conduct media interviews and outreach (as opportunities arise)Partnership Building and Networking • Assist local governments with project implementation by fostering partnership-building • Foster partnership-building amongst CEA member organizations in support of community sustainability • Liaise with local government officials, CEA member organizations, Provincial officials, the private sector, NGO's and others active in community energy issues • Identify opportunities for CEA to create positive change and generate revenue • Support or lead proposal development

The Wood Waste to Rural Heat project is a continuation of the Green Heat Initiative. WW2RH works with communities and First Nations to understand biomass heating, We also help develop business cases and support project development
