Principal Construction Inspector | Construction Safety Program Manager
CurrentPlan, manage, and direct the LAWA Construction Safety Program for enterprise level programs to support an extensive and complex $20B capital improvement program bracket CIP. Train, evaluate, and spearhead opportunities to support career advancement for staff. Interview and evaluate the performance of 60 professional safety personnel from 16 major prime contractors personnel. Report to: Chief Construction Inspector, Airport Manager II, Division Director of the Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division, 3 Deputy Executive Directors, Landside Access Modernization Group (LAMP), Airports Development Group (ADG), and Tenant Development and Improvement Program (TDIP). Direct reports: 11 Assistant Safety Managers and Administrative Support Personnel.• Minimize risk and maintain a program wide safety record of 1/3 the national average.• Enforce compliance of the LAWA CSR. • Focus the LAWA team on specifics of construction safety and mentoring.• Institute a 100% prime contractor safety personnel interview process. • Provide leadership, organized, and directed the (LAMP) landside access modernization program safety efforts. • Enforce FAA guidelines related to airspace clearance in construction zones.• Plan and direct LAWA personnel safety orientations, verify LAWA inclusion in prime contractors safety orientations.• Supervise the collection of monthly metric data, present monthly safety reports to executive management and stakeholders.• Weekly meetings with senior project staff.• Deliver annual and semi-annual public presentation of program statistics.• Develop and lead campus-wide “All Hands Safety Meetings” for general contractors, safety professionals, project engineers, airport staff, and stakeholders.
