About David E. Nilsson, Ph.D.

I have practiced as a Clinical Neuropsychologist for more than thirty years, evaluating, consulting, and treating children, adolescents, and adults having known or suspected acquired brain injury, neurological disease/disorders, neurodevelopmental/neurobehavioral disorders, neurocognitive disorders, as well as general learning and school-related problems. I have been fortunate to have trained and practiced at University Medical Center, participating in training physicians, other psychologists/neuropsychologists, and other healthcare providers. I have spent the last twenty years in independent practice, consulting to hospital-based programs, schools, parent education, community programs, and other outreach.I have retired from clinical practice, but continue to actively participate in Social Media, toward the end of educating, supporting treatment programs, writing, and presenting at conferences in areas of particular interest or experience - educational applications, brain injury intervention/support, parent/family education, pediatric brain injury, treatment applications and theory, etc.I maintain a professional Facebook page, posting regularly, as well as a professional website (www.neurodevcenter.com). I am currently working on a book "Applications of Pediatric Clinical Neuropsychology".

    I have enjoyed a diversity of professional and clinical experience in the course of my career to date! * Began Post Doctoral Psychology Fellowship (1977-78) at PCMC, subsequently employed as staff psychologist, transitioning to neuropsychology, Chief of Psychology (1980-1982). * Left employment at PCMC for private practice, providing neuropsychological / neuro- developmental consultation to medical/surgical units and outpatient services at PCMC. Actively participated in Brain Tumor, Rehabilitation, and Neurobehavioral Clinics, and as a member of the Seizure Surgery Team. I consulted to a variety of community programs - Jewish Community Center Preschool, Hyperbaric Unit at LDS Hospital, Neuropsychology Clinic (Children's Public Health Services) in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and traveled to consult at Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Hospital in Boise (Pediatric Abilities Clinic). * Moved to Boise in 2007, continuing private practice, maintaining offices in Salt Lake City, and Boise (The NeuroDevelopment Resource Center). I provided consultation/assessment support to Elks (referral), facilitating implementation of a Neurofeedback Lab. * Left Elks Rehab in 2010, continuing private practice (The NeuroDevelopment Resource Center). * I retired from clinical practice in January 2013. I continue writing, blogging, and Facebook, teaching, and a variety of other professional activities.
