I am currently Senior Policy Advisor for climate finance at Germanwatch, an independent non-governmental organization (NGO) that has been advocating for global equity and the preservation of livelihoods since 1991.At Germanwatch, the politics and economics of the North, with their global consequences, stand at the centre of our work and the situation of marginalised people in the South form the starting point for our engagement for sustainable development. We advocate for a political, economic and social framework which can ensure a future for the people of the South, who are being pushed to the margins of society through unbridled globalisation and whose very existence is threatened by the loss of their ecological and economic foundations of their livelihoods.

Since 2012, I am the co-author of the annual Global Climate Risk Index, which analyses to what extent countries have been affected by the impacts of weather-related loss events (storms, floods, heat waves etc.).

At that I attended the UN Climate Change Conference in Doha, Qatar, where I focussed on the proceedings under the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-Term Cooperative Action. On a regular basis I participated in the meetings of the Adaptation Fund Board where I co-authored various stakeholder briefings and reports.Besides climate finance, I also found broad interest in the issues of climate risk and Loss & Damage. On this subject, I was the co-author of the 2013 Global Climate Risk Index, which analyses to what extent countries have been affected by the impacts of weather-related loss events (storms, floods, heat waves etc.).

Research InternGermanwatch Aug 2012 - Sep 2012Bonn, GermanyAs a research intern at Germanwatch I worked on and contributed to the study "The German Fast-Start Finance Contribution". The working paper was part of a series of studies scrutinising how developed countries are defining, delivering, and reporting Fast Start Finance (FSF). It analyses the German FSF contribution on the basis of information available for the whole FSF period of 2010-2012, using a common methodology developed by the World Resources Institute, the Overseas Development Institute and the Open Climate Network.

InternFriedrich Ebert Foundation Aug 2005 - Sep 2005Gaborone, BotswanaAs an intern at the foreign office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Gaborone, Botswana I assisted the project manager in the planning and implementation of a forum for the promotion of democracy within the framework of a project of the University of Botswana and the organization of a workshop on regional integration in cooperation with the South African Development Community. Further, I prepared a study on the economic development and status of Botswana which served as an input to the annual report of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation offices.
