David began his academic career in 1998 at UNC studying music theory and composition. It was there that he realized hobbies sometimes do not make for good careers and that one could make more money as a teenager with a full-time job than a student with a part-time pizza delivering gig.And so, after spending a few years at an office technology supplier, David teamed up with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and embarked on a 680-hour journey to become a police officer. That journey was a success, as well as a harsh dose of reality. After some brief exposure to the world of criminality and the attempted prevention thereof, it became clear that helping other people was a very small percentage of the job.Armed with these new skills though, David soon found the security industry open to him. He quickly landed a job at Anheuser-Busch protecting one of America’s most precious commodities and was rapidly promoted through the ranks, commanding a shift of officers.After leaving security for a brief time to help a friend run a coffee & vending business, he was back with the badge at Front Range Community College.FRCC provided the opportunity to work with an incredible team and diverse student population, which was abundantly rewarding. He also was able to team up with the Learning Opportunity Center to tutor students, many of which struggle with learning disabilities.In 2009, David went back to school, balancing a full-time job, two part-time jobs (tutor and private piano instructor) as well as a family, including an infant daughter.With tremendous support, David obtained his Associate of Arts with a designation in Psychology in 2012, graduating Suma cum Laude. The next step was Colorado State University.It is here that he is continuing his pursuit of a Bachelor of Science with a designation in Mind, Body, and Behavior. After that he intends to attend graduate school to focus on cognitive neuropsychology or perhaps social psychology, but, one step at a time…
