1. Lead and manage the assessment of new or modified railway equipment and systems with mandatory standards, acting as prime contact with clients. Lead other related projects.2. Lead and manage engineers in delivering projects, providing technical input and direction as required.3. Lead the development and agreement with clients of project programmes.4. Provide cost estimates and capability information for business proposals.5. Lead the reporting of technical and commercial progress and issues to clients.6. Manage the competence of engineers in the team, allocating them to projects according to skills and development needs.7. Make decisions on whether to bid or to provide quotes for work.8. Manage bid discussions with clients.9. Set and deliver both the income and expenditure budgets for the team.

1. Manage the assessment and/or certification of rail vehicles, plant, associated equipment and asset management arrangements for conformance with mandatory requirements.2. Act as a signatory or assessor in the conformance assessment of rail vehicles and plant projects that are required to comply with interoperability, CSM or ROGS requirements.3. Provide conformance assessment and certification expertise and advice to all customers and stakeholders as directed.4. Provide guidance on the application of the relevant standards and legislation relevant to rail vehicles and plant conformance.5. Identify relevant standards for use in rail vehicle and plant conformance, making customers aware of all relevant requirements. Making recommendations for changes to UK and international standards.6. Prepare submissions to external approval bodies on behalf of customers and represent customers at panels and in discussions with these organisations.

•Professional Role as the ‘Authorised Signatory for Engineering Change’ with the same responsibilities as the Deputy Professional Head of Engineering.•Conduct reviews of modifications under the Engineering Change process.•Conduct gauging reviews for the Class 221 Super Voyager and Class 390 Pendolino to meet Company requirements.•Attend VSRP to represent the Company and support our submissions.•Project Management of large scale modifications to the Class 221 fleet.•On-Call responsibilities: Providing technical advice.•Currently I sit on the following Industry Groups: - VT/TE SIC Sub-Group: Diesel Monitoring Group (DMG) V/V SIC Sub-Group: RCM Strategy Group Cummins QSK19-R Users Group IMechE Visits Committee.
