David attended McMaster University, Hamilton (B.A. 1982) and Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto (LL.B. 1985). After articling with Agro Zaffiro Parente Orzel Hubar & Baker (now Agro Zaffiro LLP) he was called to the Ontario bar in 1987 and joined the firm. Mr. Elliot became a Partner in 1992. He resides in the Hamilton community of Ancaster.David practices in the areas of land development/ real estate and business law.David was awarded the “Distinguished Solicitor Award” by the Hamilton Law Association in March 2023. The Distinguished Solicitor Award honours a solicitor member of The Hamilton Law Association who has distinguished himself/herself throughout his/her career by exemplary service to the Hamilton Law Association, the legal profession, and/or the Hamilton community.David sat on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Bar Association from 2012-14 and on the OBA Council from 2009-2015.He is a Past President of the Hamilton Law Association (HLA), having served as President from 2009-2010, prior to which he served as Vice-President and Treasurer of that association. He is the past chair of the Real Estate Committee of the HLA, a position he held for many years. He has also chaired the HLA’s Professional Issues Committee and the Services and Benefits Committee and co-chaired the Corporate/ Commercial Committee. He continues to sit on the Real Estate Committee of the HLA.David has also been actively involved in other legal organizations, having served as President of the Alumni Association of Phi Delta Phi’s Osgoode Inn Legal Fraternity and as a member of the Real Property Section of the OBA.David is also very active in the broader Hamilton community. He is heavily involved in Rotary International, the world’s foremost service organization and is the current President (2023-24) of the Rotary Club of Hamilton, a Past President of the Rotary Club of Hamilton Mountain and a Past Assistant Governor of Rotary District 7090. He is a Past President of the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club, serving on the Board of Directors for eight years (2016-2023). He served as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the North Hamilton Community Health Centre. He is a member of the Hamilton British Sportscar Club, the Toronto Triumph Club, the Toronto Antique & Classic Boat Society, the Elliot Clan Society and St. John’s Anglican Church, Ancaster.
