After 25 years with KPMG, I have taken early retirement. My primary role as a partner was serving in the national office, where responsibilities included writing interpretive guidance in KPMG publications, drafting comment letters on proposed accounting standards, helping engagement teams resolve complex accounting issues, and teaching technical accounting topics at training events and webcasts for internal professionals and external participants. I served as co-leader of the business combinations topic team from December 2016 to April 2019 and also represented KPMG on the AICPA's Revenue Recognition Working Group from December 2016 until its dissolution in July 2018.I was a regular speaker at Executive Education courses and on the CFO Financial Forum Webcasts. I contributed to several KPMG Defining Issues and Issues In-Depth publications on FASB standard-setting activities and was a significant contributing author of KPMG’s publications "Asset Acquisitions" and "Accounting for Bankruptcies" and oversaw recurring updates to KPMG's book "Business Combinations."During my career, I completed two long-term assignments with the member firm in Germany. From October 2013 to October 2016, I was a seconded partner in the Mannheim office, working primarily on the annual financial statement audits of multinational companies headquartered in Germany. I was also the lead instructor for KPMG Germany's internal training on United States generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP).
