As Director of Construction Technology, David oversees the implementation, management and innovation of technology that provides value to the Construction process. This includes Building Information Modeling and Virtual Design and Construction, but also extends into other exciting and overlapping areas like Drones / UAVs, Laser Scanning, Virtual Reality, Construction Verification and Construction Simulation. His focus also includes project pursuit and marketing support, project setup, BIM Execution Planning, company and industry training, project standardization and consistency, recruitment, and managing the day-to-day workload and support needs across the company. He is responsible for the evaluation, purchasing, and management of new software and hardware that is released to the industry and collaborating with leading software and hardware providers to push the technology toward adding higher value on Construction projects. He is a member of the BIMForum Leadership Group and a frequent presenter at Autodesk University, Connect and Construct Summit, BIMForum, ENR Futuretech, SPAR, various colleges, and numerous other industry conferences and events in the hopes that educating and working with the most innovative members of the Design and Construction industry will lead to a more collaborative and efficient Construction process for everyone involved.Ultimately, his main role is ensuring that BIM and related technologies are consistently leveraged through Project Concept/Design Support, Project Pursuit, Preconstruction, Operations, and Facilities Management/ Owner Handover.

As BIM Manager, David led the BIM/VDC effort on the Apple World Headquarters campus project in Cupertino, CA. He and his team successfully managed the Coordination process on over 4.5 Million square feet of office and parking deck space. He also implemented and lead the Laser Scanning efforts for the entire project. This multiple crew scanning effort encompassed registration, file management, and deliverable creation from over 3,000 scans and enabled the team to adhere to extremely tight tolerances as dictated by the design of the building.

David, as a BIM Manager involved in over 100 projects, develops, integrates, coordinates, and manages digital Building Information Models for design, construction, and field use during Preconstruction, Construction and Post-Construction. This incorporates 3D Visualization; 3D Collision Detection; 4D Phasing, Sequencing, and Scheduling Analysis; 5D Quantity, Cost, and Attribute Data Extraction; and the next levels of '6D' and 'XD'. Services also include regular participation in project pursuit presentations and collaboration with owners, executives, design partners, vendors, preconstruction, project managers, superintendents, field BIM coordinators, and trade contractors. He has spent the past 6 years implementing Laser Scanning technology on projects and facilitated the purchase and integration of the first company scanner. He has been visiting jobsites for the past several years to introduce and train teams on the use of BIM, mobile technology, laser scanning, and the benefits of Virtual Design and Construction. He wrote, submitted, and successfully acquired the company FAA Exemption for Drone/UAV use on construction projects.

As a Senior Engineer in BIM, David's role continued to expand and develop. In addition to Engineer responsibilities, he took an even more active role in project pursuits, department leadership, training and recruiting, industry organization involvement, and industry presentations.

After completing the onsite role in Colorado, David returned to the Atlanta main office to support the BIM needs on multiple projects. This included facilitating Preconstruction efforts of Quantity Extraction and Visualization, attending and presenting on over 20 project pursuit efforts, and setting up BIM Execution Plans, kicking off and managing the BIM efforts on more than 30 projects around the country. Company training on BIM uses and capabilities and hiring of additional BIM resources was also a large focus.Industry roles of attending and presenting at Autodesk University and attending the AGC BIMForum began as well.

David began in Preconstruction leveraging BIM related tools and technologies to facilitate the Quantity Extraction, Visualization/Understanding, and buyout process for getting subcontractors on board for projects. He then transitioned to a project in Colorado Springs to an onsite BIM role. This role included managing the Coordination / Clash Detection process, creating and maintaining 4D Simulations / Animations of the project, model creation and updating, Quantity Extraction, and the creation and turnover of the company's first Facilities Management deliverable to a client.Tools used included ArchiCAD, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Microsoft Office suite, and P6 Primavera.

During his tenure working at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center, David rose through the ranks to a Supervisor level faster than anyone in the organization's history. He managed crews of up to 100 workers that provided all ushering, security, and set up/cleanup for sporting events, concerts, and trade shows. He also led the Carpenter's Crew for all 3 years he worked at the venue that provided all building construction needs for the nationally renowned Gator Growl event each year.

This internship in West Palm Beach for a division of Pulte Homes called Divosta Homes allowed David the opportunity to expand on his previous home building experience at a larger scale. He was in charge of quality control and inspections for more than 30 new homes during the internship.He also lead the development of several 3D models of Divosta Homes in order to facilitate Options Analysis conversations with potential home buyers. This was a technology that Divosta had not been exposed to prior to David's involvement and opened the doors to what would become BIM for home building in later years for the company.

As a part-time job, David worked for the company that focused on house remodeling and investment for 9 years. His role included a wide array of tasks and responsibilities, including: demolition and debris removal, material delivery and tracking, electrical installation and repair, plumbing installation and repair, carpentry, roofing installation and repair, tile installation, restoration, cabinetry installation, expansion, concrete placement and repair, and landscape / hardscape installation.
