Projects include long feature on Chapo Guzman's rival cartel, a documentary film with BBC Panorama on drugs in sports, and writing/reporting/narrating an episode of This American Life.

Classroom Champions is a (rapidly growing) non-profit education organization (founded by Olympic gold medalist Steve Mesler) that uses technology to connect Olympian and Paralympian mentors to high-need and under-served classrooms around the United States, Canada, and Costa Rica. My duties include helping to write grant proposals...and we recently won a Google Glass development grant!

Spoke to classes (both journalism and science classes) on science writing, statistics, and research methods, and also to groups of university coaches on sports science. In freetime explored work going on in university labs.

Was the first reporter hired at IHE, a startup that rapidly became self-sustain and then profitable. Created the science policy beat.

Started out as the midnight-to-morning guy, moved on to work at One Police Plaza. (Nothing happy that happens between midnight and the morning is going in the Daily News.)

My research resulted in four peer-reviewed scientific publications in two fields. I conducted research on urban particulate air pollution, which included mathematical modeling of the heavy metal exposure of inner-city children who commute to school in underground transit. Later, I lived on a ship in the Pacific Ocean that was making high resolution images of the seafloor, and ultimately I moved to a tent in the Arctic where I was studying the radiation that plants give off in an effort to assess the impact of changing temperatures on the carbon cycle.
