After completing a successful military career, I entered the construction industry and over the course of several years I progressed gradually from Site Manager to Project Manager to Contracts Manager and Managing Director. Whilst in continual employment I have undertaken a number of courses over a number of years in part time education, culminating in achieving a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management. This mixture of practical experience and further education has given me a solid understanding of the construction industry from different perspectives.I am a Chartered Construction Manager with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). The CIOB attempt to improve the quality of life for those using and creating the built environment. The CIOB have a role in the management, leadership, education and development of our industry.In my role as a Contracts Manager, I manage multiple projects all over North Wales and the North West. Duties include contract management, project planning, programming, scheduling labour requirements, monitor and controlling costs, estimating, monthly valuations and final accounts, monitoring of health and safety, mentoring and managing the Site Managers.I am continually driving business development by meeting with existing Clients, finding new Clients and also assisting with developing the procedures and methodology within the business to increase performance and productivity.I have been involved with a variety of projects including; Local Authority refurbishment projects, group repair schemes, Insurance repair works, subsidence repair works. Refurbishment projects including; schools, leisure facilities, public buildings, commercial buildings, fire stations, police stations, apartment blocks, barn conversions and new build projects.
