Method development, validation and UKAS accreditation of trace organic methods for the analysis of potable water samples to meet the Drinking Water Inspectorate’s (DWI’s) and UKAS requirements for DWTS method performance.To analyse new analytes for the Southern Water drinking water contract that started in July 2015 I have developed, NS30 method validated.

The analysis of trace species in a range of environmental and iron and steelmaking samples, forming part of studies into the behaviour and emissions of these species across steelmaking processes. The work focused on trace chemical analysis, i.e. metals, radiochemical, organic and inorganic species, according to ISO17025 standard methods accredited by UKAS.

I was responsible for the method development, validation and UKAS accreditation of all the trace organic methods for the analysis of Yorkshire Water samples to meet the Drinking Water Inspectorate’s (DWI’s) and UKAS requirements for method performance.I started the position of Principal Scientist – Wakefield with the mandate of improving Severn Trent.

I received TUPE transfer from Alcontrol Laboratories to Severn Trent Services now ALS Environmental in April 2010. Successfully completed projects include:-1. The method development and validation of an analytical method for the analysis of organophosphous, triazine, organochlorine, synthetic pyrethroid and PAH compounds in waste water using a Thermo.

The Deputy Technical Manager position involved the provision of technical expertise to Alcontrol Laboratories water department for organic and inorganic analytical chemistry. I critically appraised analytical methods and produced method improvement strategies. I was responsible for the NS30 method validation of analytical methods, to meet the Drinking.

The senior chemist position involved the management and supervision of sixteen analysts within the potable (drinking water) organics section. The majority of the analysis was undertaken for Yorkshire Water (YW), to meet their scheduled compliance sampling program for the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI), and was therefore subject to stringent DWI and UKAS.

The senior analyst position involved the management and supervision of a team of analysts in the analysis of potable water and untreated samples for trace organic compounds using GC-MS analysis.I was responsible for the maintenance of four Agilent 6890 Gas Chromatographs and 5973 Mass Selective Detectors in EI and CI modes with both conventional and large.

Successfully completed projects were:- 1. The method validation of the existing organochlorine pesticides and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) methods, using Carlo Erba GC / ECD and on-column injection.2. The development of a new method for the analysis of synthetic pyrethroids in environmental samples using SPE and an Agilent 6890 GC / 5973N MS.

I gained a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of trace organic compound analysis of potable and waste water samples.In the UKAS accredited laboratory I was responsible for all aspects of sample control and management, ranging from sample reception and preparation through to analysis, instrumentation, accurate data reprocessing, result verification and.
