Gautrain was a >$4B US greenfield, 80 km, high speed, commuter rail system linking Johannesburg and Pretoria, including the OR Tambo Airport in South Africa. Over the course of the project I was elevated to Engineering Manager reporting to the Engineering Director from Test and Commissioning and Compliance Lead. A successful staged opening provided service for the Fifa World Cup in June 2010, with the second stage a year later to Pretoria.• Managed the acceptance and handover process including the development of the process, creation of each system certification package, and presenting the package for review and acceptance at client acceptance panel meetings closing out the project• Regularly met with the O&M provider (RATP Dev) to review issues and present handover documentation • Managed the CAD and design team to complete the As-Built drawings for completion of handover• Managed the requirements management process including compliance reviews, collection of documentation relevant to compliance, and response to independent certifier and client comments.• Redesigned the test and commissioning process to split each system into work packages (commissioning lots). A process was created to track the commissioning lots through the testing process and provide reports on progress • Created the test and commissioning schedule with the test team, integrated into the Primavera schedule including creating scheduling logic. Managed the schedule with senior management • Managed the open items list. Consolidated items from gate reviews, operator trial run snags, and acceptance panel meetings, assigned responsibility for each item and followed the items through to closure

• Coordinated test and commissioning for Gautrain (South Africa) and new Mark II rolling stock for the Vancouver SkyTrain system• Implemented Maintenance Management Information System (MMIS) at Gautrain and Yong-In, South Korea, including processes to capture and populate field data (configuration and serialization) and commercial information such as warranty• Built interface/integration matrix for the Gautrain project, identifying all systems within the project and their respective interfaces, identifying and correcting gaps found• Reviewed reliability (RAMS) data for supplied equipment to determine appropriate spares for projects• Designed and implemented key performance indicators (KPIs) to report project progress to upper management for testing, manuals and training, and field requests/modifications• Led and completed bid packages for the Product Introduction group, which included development of test strategies including for phased openings, identifying risks and opportunities, reviewing early designs, creating resourcing plans, estimating additional testing costs, and identifying any critical path concerns
