My work at CableLabs touched on many aspects of the cable TV experience. From set top box hardware specifications and testing to video and data headend delivery systems including DOCSIS CMTS units, VOD systems, edge QAM devices, RF distribution and HFC outside plants. Through my work at CableLabs I have developed an end to end cable TV expertise. My strength is understanding and debugging complex communications systems. I lead a group of developers and industry experts that made use of DOCSIS cable modem data to remotely identify and isolate problems in the cable HFC plant. The proactive network maintenance (PNM) techniques are being implemented by cable companies now and are providing more than $50M in annual benefits to the industry. Another aspect of my CableLabs experience involved helping the cable industry understand the impact and incorporate Wi-Fi and LTE wireless systems into their operations.

My primary role at DiviCom & Harmonic was leading a development team focused on creating a cable data communication system based on the DAVIC specification, a pre-curser to the DOCSIS standard. This involved setting technical direction, inspiring developers and working with customers to deliver a world class data delivery system. This development involved digital and RF hardware, embedded software and network management teams.

I was with US West while they were deploying their mobile PCS phone system, PCS Primeco. I was responsible for cellular phone system design and testing.

My work at SRI included design and testing of satellite and point to point microwave communication system.

My responsibilities at Ball Aerospace included designing, testing and supervising the production of leading edge millimeter and micro wave microstrip antennas used in the aerospace industry.
