David’s 30 years of experience in field botany, vegetation assessment and land resource management has been gained throughout the tropics and subtropics of Australia. From his initial interest in the rainforest botany of far northern New South Wales, David has developed considerable practical field knowledge through his involvement with many flora and vegetation survey projects. He provides professional services to all levels of government, natural resource managers, industry, private landowners, indigenous and community organisations. David has conducted survey work in Papua New Guinea, Christmas Island, south west WA, the West Kimberley Region, North Eastern Arnhem Land, throughout northern NSW, and in the Queensland Bioregions of Torres Strait, Cape York Peninsula, Wet Tropical Coast, Central Queensland Coast, Einasleigh Uplands, North west highlands, New England Tableland and South Eastern Queensland. His work in Cape York Peninsula and Torres Strait included a comprehensive survey of rainforest vegetation, which provided a significant contribution to the knowledge of the regions rainforest ecology. His professional development has also involved working within the broader land resource and property management fields with the Commonwealth Indigenous Land Corporation and with numerous Indigenous land management projects. Furthermore, he has been involved with numerous weed management, vegetation restoration planning and monitoring projects.
