I started working for an independent contractor at 1845 Oilfield Services July, 2013. They tired to get me to work as a company driver. I told them no thank. I knew what I needed to do to achieve the goal I had set for myself, to become an Owner operator and haul Frac sand. I worked hard as I could. I was motivated. I was angry in the past few months something had been taken from me. My pride and respect I had for myself. By October I was searching for a truck to buy. Financially it was tough I had bad credit and using a conventional credit source like a bank or a finance company, well it just wasn't going to happen. So I knew I had to save my money and boy did I. By November I had over 11,000 in the bank. I put the word out that I was looking for a truck and if anyone had one to give me a call. Well a gentleman did we talked and made a deal on his truck, and now my truck, a 1998 379 Peterbilt! I have put a lot of work and money into her. I call her Christine, you know from the movie? Well I got her in November and didn't get her into good enough shape until mid March. And that is when I pulled my first load. She's a strong truck. Rides great and is a lot of fun to work. I was told by my father one day, I you don't enjoy what you do for a living, you'll never be happy. Or something like that! Anyways I'm happy doing what I'm doing.
