I'm an educator with fifteen years of experience teaching math and technology for Baltimore City and Fairfax County Public Schools. I believe big changes are needed in American public education in order for students to be prepared for future success, and I want to be part of making those changes.As a teacher, my focus is always on building strong relationships with my students and helping them make connections between their classwork and their lives. I have used project-based learning (yes, even in Math!) to inspire, motivate and educate students throughout my career. My goal is to make math and technology come alive for kids.In addition to classroom teaching, I have created content and contributed to curricula for Northern Virginia Community College, Illustrative Mathematics and Legends of Learning. I have also provided formal and informal coaching to fellow educators and provided technical facilitation for the national Progressive Education Summit.In my free time I enjoy games of all kinds, from pick-up sports to Dungeons and Dragons.
