Theater Strategic Services is an independent arts consulting service that delivers practical operational, fundraising, and strategic advice to individuals and organizations engaged in arts businesses.

DSO is the only professional orchestra in Delaware. I was asked by its Board of Directors to lead the management of the symphony’s business operations while they search for and acquire their next permanent executive director.During my interim work I strengthened staffing, improved relations with the musician’s union, strengthened the public image of the Orchestra throughout its constituency, and advanced its fundraising. I helped manage the organization through the initial stages of COVID cancellations and reconfiguration of the 20-21 season.

The Delaware Historical Society , founded in May, 1864, serves as the statewide non-profit organization that preserves, explores, shares and promotes Delaware history, heritage and culture to strengthen our community. DHS is presently in a transition period as it works to recruit a new CEO. During that interim period, David Fleming will manage the operations and facilities and work with DHS staff and board to strengthen the organization.

The Delaware Community Foundation manages charitable funds for individuals, families, businesses and organizations, and distributes income from the funds as grants to humanitarian, educational, health and cultural entities throughout the First State. With 1,200 funds, more than $225 million in assets, and annual grants of about $15 million, the Foundation provides a lasting source of charitable funding to benefit Delawareans now and for generations to come. I am part of a three-person senior management team with primary responsibility for developing and expanding all annual contributed support and for completion of a major capital campaign to repair infrastructure, eliminate debt and expand endowment.

As the Chief Executive Officer of this company I led the effort to finalize the restoration of this 1903 historic theater, developed its operating systems and ran its operations during its first four years as a new performing arts center. My primary responsibilities during this period were the establishment of this new entity as a highly valued and loved addition to the Berkshires cultural scene, create and sustain a year-round enterprise in a seasonal market, all fundraising, all programming, development and management of staff and volunteer corps, and strategic development of the entity.

2000+ seat contemporary theater presenting a full range of performing arts, touring Broadway and popular speakers. Weidner Center was a charter organizer of the Independent Producers Network investing in and developing new Broadway productions.

Responsible for the transformation of a 1950s era municipal auditorium into a contemporary two-theater performing arts presenting organization on the shore of Town Lake in downtown Austin.
