Responsible for the safe arrival and departure of CMA -CGM operated container vessels at the port of Southampton. Tasks include; preparation of arrival and departure documentation, booking of towage, berth and pilotage. Crew changing including all immigration and logistical arrangements, delivery of ships spares, supplies and victuals. Bunkering and associated sampling logistics. Monitoring of and reporting cargo operations on behalf of cargo stakeholders and charterers. Overall representing the ship owners best interests throughout the period their vessel is in port.

Role involved patrolling the Harbour waters, ensuring the safe implementation of maritime law & bye laws but all marine users. Reviewing legislation ensuring fit for purpose. Training staff in aspects of regulation and investigation of maritime law. Ensuring safe conduct of commercial ship movements. In general terms ensuring Falmouth harbour was a safe place for all maritime users to operate and enjoy.

Working under the Modern Slavery Transformation programme, headed by Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer. Working throughout UK developing manageable guidance for police officers dealing with all aspects of International crime investigations. Working hand in hand with Europol, Interpol, Home office , FCO and Met police to standardise international police enquiries procedures, resulting in development and publication of a single guidance manual.

Prior to CID worked as a Special Branch Ports Officer, responsible for intelligence and investigation of National Security & Terrorism enquires throughout the UK. Responsible for developing, trialing and introduction of a National Maritime Risk Assessment Tool, (nmrat). This was successfully introduced to all UK police forces, enabling the standardisation of assessing CT risks presented by commercialiall shipping entering UK waters. Responsible for training and advising police forces, security services and partner agencies on shipping intelligence matters.

Started as a junior Air Mechanic ( electrical) finished as Sub/Lt. Various roles within Fleet Air Arm, substantial time as Aircraft Electrian maintaining Sea King MK2 & 5 ASW helicopters. Highlight of career being part of Global 86 world deployment onboard HMS Illustrious and RFA Fort Grange. Other roles included engineers assistant at RNEC Manadon training future Air Engineering Officers. Finally finished as trainee pilot, alas it was a bridge too far and with the combination of defence cuts it was time to move on after 9 years.
