I am excited to be working with a group of talented colleagues ranging from two to five engineers. We conduct most development projects for this IndyCar race team.▬▬ Core Responsibilities ▬▬Mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic design for high-performance race cars. Materials selection, including composites, PM steels, and cobalt/nickel alloys. Testing, data acquisition, and data analysis. Project management. Collaboration with racing engineers on development focuses. Deadline management. Vendor communication and relationship management, with emphasis on materials and parts sourcing and technology application. Serve as team subject matter expert on materials properties and selection as well as various testing systems such as mechanical testers and an XRD scanner.▬▬ Significant Accomplishments & Results ▬▬◆ Made contributions noted as important to the improvements to vehicle performance that led to the team earning pole position at the 2015 and 2017 Indianapolis 500 races.◆ Noted for tenacity, dedication, and willingness to take on challenges; for working long hours to complete projects; delivering under tight deadlines; and for achieving vehicle performance gains.◆ Developed new methodologies for rating springs and calibrating load cells.◆ Designed an improved spring stand to simulate the dynamics of a rolling tire for testing purposes. Reduced unwanted coupling between tire behavior and suspension by a factor of 10.▬▬ Selected Projects Portfolio ▬▬◆ TRANSMISSION & DRIVETRAIN COATINGS: Developed use of multiple performance coatings to maximize efficiency of transmission.◆ BELLHOUSING CASTING: Design and facilitation of manufacturing of large structural piece for test race car.◆ LOAD CELL DEVELOPMENT: Worked closely with vendor to develop high quality, compact load cells for aerodynamic testing.◆ PULLDOWN RIG: Design and implementation of complex test equipment to assess every car prior to racing.Note: See “Projects” section for more info.

As a researcher in Michael Bockstaller’s Soft Materials Laboratory in the Materials Science and Engineering department, I worked with a small group on fundamental research of block copolymer elastomers. My primary responsibilities included tunneling electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, and associate samples preparation.▬▬ Significant Accomplishments ▬▬◆ Coded prototype software to extract critical microstructure data from large-scale TEM micrographs of lamellar structured block copolymer grains. Solution was hundreds of times faster than previous manual analysis.
