A lifelong sailor and a professional educator I now continue my passion for both. I continue to work with many training centres as a RYA Yachtmaster and Advanced Powerboat Examiner and as a Freelance Coach I work with sailing clubs and centres on their Instructor Training.I work with several RYA Training Centres on the West Coast of Scotland where I continue to deliver high quality training. In my role I work closely wth RYA Scotland, RYA UK and the Scottish Sailing Institute, sitting on committees and working in the areas of Coach Development, Scottish Athlete Performance Programme and the training and appointment of UK RYA Race Officials .Through the Scottish Sailing Institute I have considerable experience of siting on organising committees for many of the World and European Championships hosted in Scotland. Having trained over fifty of the National Technical Officers for the London Olympic Games (NTOs) I held a senior role at Weymouth during the 2012 OlympicsI have an International reputation delivering training around the world: Oman (Asian Beach Games). Australia, (ISAF World Sailing Championships). Ireland, (ISAF Youth World Championships), Norway (Laser 4.7 European championships) In China delivering Instructor training I assisted with the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club in becoming an overseas RYA Training Centre. In 2014 in Alicante I helped with the preparations for the 2014 Volvo Ocean Race and as part of the Commonwealth Games celebrations that yearI led the largest Flotilla ever, of over 260 boats, up the river Clyde to Glasgow. In 2015 I led the twelve strong UK mark laying team involved with delivering the America Cup World Series in Portsmouth. In Abhu Dhabi leading a team of eight from the UK we went out and supported the race management at the 2015 ISAF Sailing World Cup Finals. Show less

I was responsible for all the National Sailing Squad training in Scotland, developing and managing the performance training programme, athlete selection and the appointment of Coaches. I helped develop the Regional Squad structure and travelled throughout Scotland promoting and developing race training in the 144 RYA affilited sailing clubs. A big part my role as a professional was engaging and working with a large number of volunteers essential to the delivery of sport.
