In February of 2019 I was prompted to the IT Technology Services manager, this role brought new duties to my existing responsibilities as Infrastructure architecture. The first was in the structuring and recruitment of a new Technically Services team which has the responsibility for managing and maintaining all of Fortems IT Infrastructure platforms and to act as the senior escalation point for other IT teams including application support, and the Service Desk. As leading this team, I have strived to develop a strong team bond and work ethos which is customer and business focused, alongside creating teamwork programmes and day to day management activities including regular one to ones, mentoring and personal and technical development of the team.In addition to my team management responsibilities I was also responsible for the strategic plan and IT roadmap for Technology Services, which included further public cloud adoption and the digital transformation of the Fortem desktop estate. Hitchin, England, Gb
I joined Fortem to lead the IT technical transition aspect of a companywide programme of work to become operationally independent from their parent company Willmott Dixon. This was achieved by an initial consultative approach with key business stakeholders to document and collate the requirements of each of the business functions into a clear set of business IT requirements in which to go to market and tender.I led and was responsible for the low-level design and build out of the new Fortem IT infrastructure to support the business and its targeted growth plans. This led Fortem to taking a multi cloud approach utilising both private and public cloud providers to facilitate the requirements of the business, and the migration of 1200 users from Willmott Dixon in a new Fortem infrastructure. The new Fortem platform had to be scalable, highly available, and resilient to ensure it matched the companies strictly enforced SLA’s it had with its customers. The key sections that I covered as part of the design and deployment were as follows: -• Hosting including Storage and Compute• LAN/ WAN and Security• Core IT Services – Active Directory, File and Print• Enterprise Messaging• Backup and Recovery Including full Disaster Recovery• Mobility Management• Business Application Hosting• Service Design with Internal team and 3rd parties • Telephony including a 24/7 contact Centre
