NAILED IT. I got the National Industry PhD Program grant. A $296 million federal government program to build a bedrock of research talent skilled in University–Industry collaboration. This allows me to study and work, combining the best of both worlds - evidence based research and industry, commercial implementation. A highly competitive and rigorous application process so a big thank you to my academic and industry partners - Queensland University of Technology and Hartecs for their continued support and vision. My PhD over the next 4 years is Beyond the commute: Reimagining Australian CBD travel in a post-pandemic world where I investigate the new ways of working, providing evidence-based recommendations for better planning, policy, investment and management of transport and land use infrastructure. But there is more - through my roles with the Committe for Brisbane, SME Connectivity; Engineers Australia - Transport Australia Society Deputy Chair and Fellow at the AITPM I get to investigate a range of topics where the power of research provides valuable evidence to the studies. This includes First Mile - Last Mile connectivity; the role of technology in the new mobility evolution; improved processes in Bridge Infrastructure management, safety as an embedded process of how we plan the transport system; renewable energy technology and the role local companies can play; active travel to schools; the needs of the regions and so much more. So, watch this space. I will share what I learn and look to engage with a range of disciplines because we all have a role to play My Skills•
