EESI primarily works in the power generation arena, however I was also the interim Regional Manager for our sister company, Industrial Mechanical Inc. (I.M.I.) for a a short period of time. IMI primarily works in the oil and gas industry. Additionally I performed welding inspection duties for both I.M.I. and E.E.S.I.(Comprised 10 months for combined duties)

My duties included the overall management of all Operations functions for Dryloc Siding and Trim Systems. This company manufactured siding and trim for homes and buildings. My responsibilities included the following departments Plant Operations, Planning, Maintenance, QA/Q.C, Manufacturing Engineering, Human Resources, Risk management, Safety, and Purchasing. I also worked with Sales and Marketing including co-developing a power point sales presentation and rewriting non productive sales/marketing materials.Reason for leaving; Due to the “housing downturn” this privately owned company went out of business and everyone was laid off in January of 2008.

Chaired the Variance Committee for the Plant Optimization Process initiative for San Juan Generating Station (an 1800 Mw coal fired generating station). My role was to start the program and guide the team through implementation and development as the process matured. I was also instrumental in training and developing the Variance Teams at the other generating stations in our fleet. I was a member of the Steering Committee, which is the executive decision making group for the Plant Optimization Process. The Steering Committee membership includes the Vice President of Power Production and all senior plant management. I was also chartered with development and implementation of new plant initiatives such as the comprehensive plant wide lubrication program as well as pushing these out to the remainder of the fleet after development. I was the process owner for the Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode Effects Analysis program throughout Power Production. I also addressed other project related needs as they are identified. I hold a Six Sigma Green Belt. I retired from PNM after 25 years to pursue other opportunities.

I reported to the Vice President of Power Production and was asked to build and implement a comprehensive quality program/infrastructure throughout the Power Production organization and assist in the same endeavor corporate wide. I also managed the department that was responsible for assessing Power Production systems and processes to identify and evaluate strengths and opportunities for improvement. This entailed working with the plant manager, senior department managers and staff as well as corporate management to identify processes for review and improvement, and oversight of their implementation and ongoing monitoring. I served as the lead for Power Production in the development and implementation of the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence framework throughout the corporation. During this time I was located at San Juan Generating Station (coal fired) Most of the focus was at San Juan as it is the largest generation asset. This department was disbanded due to the retirement of the Vice President and subsequent reorganization by the new Vice President.

Direct responsibility for all aspects of the Engineering Department, Outage Planning, QA/QC, Predictive Maintenance, and the Environmental Services department at San Juan Generating Station(coal fired). Key duties included the administration of personnel safety programs for the department, planning and execution of all scheduled maintenance outages, all capital projects and associated budgets, non-capital engineering, and outage related projects, boiler inspections, code welding program and the predictive maintenance program. I was responsible for liaison with the Engineering and Operations (E&O) Committee and handled the primary communication between the owner representatives (of the E&O Committee) and SJGS regarding capital projects and engineering related issues.

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the environmental process (scrubbers, chemical plant, etc.) fuel and water systems (including the lake and river pumping station), ash removal, planning services, and maintenance services.(San Juan Generating Station/coal fired) Other duties included responsibility for operational availability of the area managed as well as the production and sales of by-products, i.e., acid, sodium sulfate, flyash, etc. I was also responsible for the development of personnel in the department and for implementing appropriate succession plans. Key duties included administration of personnel safety programs, development and administration of operating and maintenance procedures, administration of preventative and predictive maintenance programs, unit/process efficiency improvement programs, knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, budget and cost control, and over-all achievement of Power Production critical success factors which applied to this area of 300 people and a 30 million dollar O&M budget. While managing this area, I was also the project manager for the negotiation of the renewal of San Juan Generating Station’s water contract with the Bureau of Reclamation. This entailed leading the PNM team, which consisted of an attorney, paralegal, and external consultants during strategy development and negotiating sessions with the Bureau of Reclamation and Navajo Nation. Eventually this responsibility was handed off to a full time project manager. During this time I also served as the Bulk Power Ethics Compliance Officer for two years.

Responsible for the supervision of four Lead Planners who in turn supervised the Generation Block Planning, Environmental Systems Planning, Outage Planning, Quality Control, and Predictive Maintenance groups at this coal fired generating station. The department’s responsibilities covered all day-to-day maintenance planning, unscheduled and scheduled outage planning and execution, as well as Quality Control, Predictive Maintenance, and boiler inspection activities. Additionally, I performed projects as required by the Maintenance Manager.

I researched, developed, coordinated and taught classes as needed by journeymen, supervisors, and engineering personnel.
