As a member of the CUPE Leadership Team, the Director of Information Technology Services (ITS) directs the efficient and effective operations of the ITS Branch and provides strategic leadership for planning and implementation of a broad range of organization wide IM / IT initiatives to support CUPE’s service delivery objectives. The position will work in collaboration with decision-makers in other Departments and Branches to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for CUPE. The position plays a major leadership role in organizing, managing, and strengthening a comprehensive information technology / information management infrastructure that will support and transform the administrative and service delivery areas of CUPE, and support its mandate.As a member of CUPE’s Leadership team, the Director ITS participates in the establishment of strategic directions and coordinated planning of Departmental priorities and programs. Central to this is a focus on aligning the services of the Branch with those of clients, establishing effective client relationships with other Departments and Branches through the creation of comprehensive service level agreements and the identification and management of meaningful performance measures pertaining to service delivery.The Director ITS will oversee the implementation of Branch strategies, the operations of ITS, and the management of Branch financial and human resources. He will be accountable for recruitment and performance management of staff, and act as a spokesperson for the employer at grievance and arbitration hearings when and if required.
