Having successfully restructured and stabilised the European Engineering function I was approached by the Board of our parent company and asked to lead the Sales operation in the position of Vice President. My goal was to optimise the business, its products, processes and management creating a stable foundation to support profitable business growth.Truck-Lite, a Penske Company, is the worldwide market leader in the manufacture and supply of Automotive and Commercial vehicle lighting, mirror, harness and acoustic systems. The company is a major Tier One supplier to the OE car, truck and trailer producers across the globe. The customer portfolio includes distinguished names such as; Audi, BMW, Ford, Porsche, VW, Mercedes, MAN, Scania, Volvo, Chereau, Montracon, SDC, IWT. Appointed as member of Management Board responsible for the Global Engineering functions of three newly acquired businesses. Key objective was to achieve synergies and productivity through consolidation and resource/skill sharing. Developed a product development strategy in line with our commercial and operational business objectives. Defined and implemented a global engineering structure with common objectives, budgeting, reporting, business processes and metrics. Developed an advanced engineering function to support future market and customer needs.Significantly improved new product development performance achieving greater adherence to plan regarding; cost, time and specification. Improved the collection of development and tooling funds by meeting scheduled project milestones and PPAP sign offs. Closed off >80% of projects with critical red status.

Responsible for Engineering team in UK covering new product development for key Truck and Trailer OEM accounts. Established a life cycle management team with KPI’s aligned to the operation and yr over yr productivity objectives.Engineering team consisted of 28 staff covering product development, LCM and product validation. Structured core team to focus on new products and application engineering to support sales growth in new market sector.Assisted in creation and implementation of APQP system to improve control of new product introduction projects.Understanding and knowledge of CATIA and Pro-Engineer CAD systems. Advanced Optical design and simulation tools ASAP, SPEOS.

Europe

Responsible for all technical support relating to current business and new product development for the major OEM accounts; Daimler, MAN, GM, Ford, CAT, JCB, Komatsu, VCE.Managed over 30 successful new product launches with annual sales totalling >18M Euro.Worked closely with customers, internal cross functional groups and suppliers to ensure good communication and correct expectations were met ensuring smooth introduction of new products and engineering changes.Assisted with the containment and correction of quality issues, participated in field trials, Worked with oversees supply base to develop their competence and capability (Asia, Eastern Europe). Participated in the definition of product strategy and review of concept and product designs.
