My role is to produce geographical and schematic drawings, schedules and specifications for major communication schemes. I have worked on the following schemes and designed the elements shown below; M1 Managed Motorways Junction 32 to 35aM56 Junction 9 to 16 Triple PackageI am currently working on street lighting designs for the Blackpool PFI.

2006 ­ 2009 - Derived Pricing Team WSP Civils ­ Estimating EngineerWorking within the derived pricing team alongside the Commercial Manager working on EEC based frameworkcontracts (NEC 2). All work in Area 12 between the limits of £500,000 and £5,000,000 was carried out by one of fourcontractors with whom our client entered into contract in 2003 (Framework).Duties during the stage 2 estimate include:Analyse task documents and drawings ­ Taking off appropriate quantities for pricingUnderstand the pricing document as to negotiate with the contractor on any technical pricing issuesProduce rates for specific items that may require clarification before being pricedProduce an estimate of the scheme duration using historical outputs from similar types of workProduce rates (non Derived) that will be included in the estimate as compensation eventsChecking and applying correct contractor WAO & Fee to the estimateCalculate and apply current price indexation to the schemePrepare a rational in conjunction with our estimate for client to check and read through which highlights reasoning behind rates used within the estimatePrepare a cost control form for the client, this shows any historical estimates against our current stage 2.The client has allocated an amount of funding for a particular scheme based on their own historical information. Our stage 2 provides a much more detailed estimate that allows the client to monitor the change in costs against the allocationand previous estimates.

My responsibilities were to project manage both street lighting maintenance and new development schemes forRMBC; my duties included the following: Procurement of materials, lanterns, columns etc Consultations with client (Highway departments, external contractors and members of the public) Complete design and estimate for clients using BS:5489 Issue to site teams for construction Supervise the construction on siteI was also responsible for daily maintenance of existing lighting infrastructure which included: Replacement of obsolete lighting units, including NRF and Gateway Projects Inventory Surveys Deadsure database management (Faults etc) Training junior and new members of staff on procedures used within the street lighting team.Part of the service we provided was to external contractors building new commercial and residential developments,we would provide a design and build package. I was often called to support the main lighting design engineer indesigning and delivering these types of schemes.During the design of schemes I used the following software: Reality lighting package for lighting design AutoCAD for scheme design Updated and Maintained Street Lighting Database - DeadsureI was seconded into the temporary role of sign maintenance engineer for 6 months, whilst in that role he wasinvolved in the design, procurement and installation of street signs to the Traffic Signs and Regulations Manual.Duties included: Sign design using Auto-sign package which is an add on to AutoCAD Sign procurement, liaising with sign manufacturers to ensure signs were constructed to specification and delivered on time. Working for the local government put I in the public eye he therefore has excellent experience of dealing with the public over the phone and face to face.

Highway DesignMy role allowed me to work alongside engineers on designs and bills of quantities for small highway schemes andsection 278 works. Involved with pre-tender packages and designs Assist with onsite surveys using AutoCAD drawings linked with land surveying software to find setting out co- ordinates; I would then upload the strings into the EDM. Seconded onsite with surveying team working on ­ Setting out kerb lines, street lights, bridge foundations (piles).
