As Decision Support Integration Branch Chief, manages activities associated with the advancement of Impact-based Decision Support Services (IDSS) in support of NWS´s Weather Ready Nation (WRN) strategic vision. Activities within this category include development and maintenance of national IDSS policy and associated directives, the WRN Roadmap and Implementation Plan, oversight of WRN initiatives such as Impact Catalogs, and coordination with the OCLO to ensure that required IDSS training is defined and developed. Manages all activities and initiatives associated with the national Warning Coordination Meteorologist (WCM)/Service Coordination Hydrologist (SCH) Program. Responsible for providing expertise to support core partners that have emerging needs that would benefit from NWS involvement. Coordinate with all 11 National Service Programs in developing decision support strategies to support NWS core partners. Supports emerging service sector areas including the Federal Highway Administration, the Department of Energy, and the Centers for Disease Control.

Supervised a national staff engaged in the ongoing aviation weather impact decision support services and support programs of the Aviation Weather Center (AWC) meteorological unit co-located within the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC), referred to as the AWC's National Aviation Meteorologists (NAM). Oversaw the application of the latest advances in the science to AWC NAM operations, including contributing to experimental and developmental activities, or sharply focused development projects, such as the tuning, adjustment and refining of new algorithms, and the conduct of analytical studies designed to enhance national decision support techniques to meet national needs. Managed, directed and supervised the operations performed by the National Aviation Meteorologist unit. Supported the AWC Director as a National Weather Service (NWS) spokesperson at a national level, managing a complex set of interrelationships between the AWC NAM, AWC operations and support branches, National Centers, National and Regional Operations Centers, Center Weather Service Units, Weather Forecast Offices, governmental agencies involved in aviation services (including the FAA), local and national media, national aviation interests, and other commercial aviation weather users.

Led 24/7 operations for 150+ Airmen at seven worldwide operating locations, to include home base of Offutt AFB, Nebraska, in multiple national security mission sets. Responsible to the Joint and Interagency communities for a range of unique capabilities critical to steady-state and contingency operations. Operationally integrated terrestrial and space environmental data from multiple DoD, interagency and civil sources while delivering mission tailored analysis and forecast products and services. Directed operations and maintenance for a five-site, $24 million solar electro-optical observing network in support of US Strategic Command/US North Command no-fail missions. Interfaced daily with PhDs, engineers, and subject matter experts spanning multiple disciplines.

Planned, organized and implemented Seventh Air Force weather operations and advised in the direction and control of USAF forces. Provided meteorological and oceanographic support to commander and subordinate staff agencies in armistice and wartime. Led cross-functional Operations Planning Groups, monitored theater level events, and created contingency options driving AF component response. Coordinated with US Forces Korea, Combined Forces Command, Korean Air Operations Center, and Republic of Korea Air Force, subordinate wings, and expeditionary units on all Korea flying operations.

Guided command and control, airfield management, weather, air traffic control, and aircrew flight equipment for range support to DoD flight tests. Supervised and directed activities of 200+ military, DoD civilians and contractors operating at three remote locations. Supported 18K annual range sorties encompassing joint and combined operations of DoD and allied flight test assets. Planned and directed $2.25M annual operating budget for five functional ares across 50K square mile range complex.

Thesis: Verification of Buried Improvised Explosive Device Target Detection Capability in Target Acquisition Weapons Software. Provided joint DoD mission planners, operators and weather professionals an assessment of TAWS capability to predict the target scene and detection distance for a buried IED. Planned coordinated and executed aircraft sortie and data collection activities for Buckley Air National Guard Exercise Five in support of thesis. As class leader, served as a liaison between faculty and staff on daily administrative tasks and student accountability.

Oversaw all squadron operational/technical training, evaluation, and certification for launch, range and air operations on the Western Launch and Test Range, ensuring the protection of 12K DoD and contractor personnel and $3.8B in assets. Prepared/trained airmen for rapid deployment supporting global air and space expeditionary force requirements, directed squadron readiness and standardization/evaluation programs, and conducted individual and team evaluation. As Launch Weather Officer, led 15-person space launch team making critical "Go/No-Go" launch decisions.

Led 30-person team of forecasters in a centralized, 24-hour weather operations center for 60 Air Force and Army active duty and reserve component installations within a seven state, 620K square-mile region of the south-central US. Operated a $2.5M operational production system to produce region-scale, site-specific, and aviation weather products for operational shaping, planning and execution of diverse mission profiles and protection of billions of dollars in DoD assets. Developed standard operating procedures and forecast techniques, and performed product quality assurance.
