NFWF preserves and restores our nation’s native wildlife species and habitats. Created by Congress in 1984, NFWF directs public conservation dollars to the most pressing environmental needs and matches those investments with private funds.The Foundation works with a full complement of foundations, government agencies, nonprofits, and corporations to identify and fund the nation’s most intractable conservation challenges• Lead creation and implementation of NFWF's partnership with USDA, numerous non-profit conservation groups, agriculture organizations, and state agencies in creating over 500,000 acres of additional migratory bird habitat in response to the Gulf Oil Spill and over $42 million dollars being raised• Serve as principal liaison with the Executive Branch, Federal Agencies as well as non-profits• Responsible for the development and implementation of legislative strategies to secure support of authorizing legislation and federal funding on behalf of NFWF conservation initiatives• Develop leads and foster opportunities for the Development Dept and assist in activities aimed at getting corporate, foundation, and private funding for foundation mission and goals.• Member of Senior Management Team responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for the Foundation to support strategic direction.• Provide leadership for securing NFWF Congressional Authorization every five years as well as passage in the 110th Congress of HR 3891 to increase the size of the NFWF Board.• Secure funding through annual Congressional appropriations process. $14.5 million in FY08 and $15.5 million in FY09• Lead administration and management of Federal agreements with seventeen federal agencies including proposal development, tracking of funding commitments, ensuring compliance with agreements, and fulfilling reporting responsibilities. $54 million in FY11

Advised and assisted the agency Chief and helped lead the efforts and management of staff of 12,500 employees, nearly $3 billion budget, over $1.5 billion program allocations and policy issues including congressional earmark management. Served in a variety of roles including Departmental representative on critical issues such wildlife, drought, Migratory Bird Conservation Commission, annual update of the President’s Wetlands Executive Order, the Great Lakes, South Florida Ecosystem Task Force, Coral Reef Task Force, the Klamath Basin Task Force, biofuels, climatechange, and preparation for the next Farm bill. Advised administration officials on the interests and initiatives of the agricultural, wildlife/sportsmen, and conservation/environmental organizations and interests.

Developed and maintained relationships with House of Representative and Senate staff, agricultural organizations, and conservation/environmental groups. Formed and led a coalition of conservation organizations in pursuit of a strong conservation title within the 2002 Farm Bill and development ofrules and regulations guiding the implementation of the Farm Bill. Advised staff and members on issues including Carbon Sequestration, alternative fuels/ethanol development, conservation tax incentives, and a variety of water quality, wildlife habitat and wetlands related regulations and legislation.

Represented locally led Conservation Districts from the United States within the Administration and Congress. Developed and implemented organizational grassroots strategy for conservation districts and the volunteer, locally elected, or appointed district supervisors. Managed extensiveoutreach and educational activities between members, organization partners, and federal partners such as the Environmental Protection Agency, Fish and Wildlife Service, American Farm Bureau Federation, and National Association of State Foresters.

Led multi-disciplinary team on all outreach and advertising efforts to educate state and local governments, business leaders, and the general public on issues related to reformulated gasoline. Managed team on strategy development and implementation on all matters relating to the National Reformulated Gasoline Hotline. Directed national advertising and public outreach campaigns related to air pollution and solutions emphasizing cleaner burning gasoline and alternative fuels. Served as liaison between state, local and federal government officials on various issues effectingcorporate clients including: Cargill Ethanol, Shell Chemical Co., and the Clean Fuels Development Coalition.
