ResearcherUniversity Of Calgary Sep 2015 - Feb 2019Calgary, Canada AreaCompleted SSHRC-funded research projects for Dr. George Colpitts at the University of Calgary's Department of History. The first two research projects (2015 and 2016) consisted of research into online newspaper databases on First Nations treaty pay (annuities) from 1873 to 1929. My task was to compile and process large amounts of online data and library holdings (primary and secondary sources) in order to create an annotated newspaper repository/compilation.From 2018 to 2019, I conducted historical research for Bearwatch, a multi-million-dollar Genome Canada study of polar bears in the Arctic (through Queen's University and the University of Calgary). My task was to conduct research into polar bear activity and achieve understandings (including Inuit involvement and understandings) of polar bear historical populations, especially sub-populations in the Canadian Arctic. This comprised research into Hudson Bay Company Archives (HBCA) and the creation of a qualitative (historical analysis) and quantitative database. -
