    As Vice President Marketing Sotheby's, David was responsible for the production, marketing and sale of Sotheby's books and publications. In that capacity, David disrupted a centuries old model by implementing database-driven direct marketing as the most efficient and profitable technique to acquire new consignors, bidders and buyers for art and auction collectibles. As a result, David transformed a sleepy subscription department into a profit center and in so doing changed the storied auction house's way of doing business for both Sotheby's, Sotheby's International Realty and Sotheby's Financial Services. Overnight Sotheby's was transformed to an efficient lead generation and conversion machine.At the core of these marketing efforts was "Next Month At Sotheby’s", a direct mail generated continuity program created by David that won the Direct Marketing Association’s highest award- the Diamond Echo for best direct marketing program across all industries (not awarded every year). David managed new business development, branding, advertising, B2C and B2B marketing, new media, direct mail, subscriptions and reporting. Included within those efforts were publishing a hardcover book series Art & Auction plus hundreds of hardcover and softcover books for specific auctions like The Jewels of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and Van Gogh's Irises.David also helped launch Sotheby's as the first licensed auctioneer of wine and spirits in the United States. Managing the marketing and branding of Sotheby's Wine & Spirits, together with the development of their inhouse customer, lead and prospect database, the acquisition and sale of wines and spirits globally now became targeted and projectable against plan in the same vein as art and other collectibles.
