As a graduate teaching assistant for an undergraduate heat transfer section, I passed on my knowledge of heat transfer concepts to students. Assisted students with conceptual understanding of heat transfer as well as concrete realistic examples. Assisted students with a technical computer design project using MatLab to solve a 2D surface temperature analysis. Acted as an adviser for a physical design project consisting of building, analysis, and testing of a solar thermal oven. Collaboration and feedback focused the goals of the group over personal learning milestones.

Worked under general supervision as an engineer developing, testing, and designing a three wheeled electric single passenger vehicle. Fabrication of parts and components for assemblies was a daily routine, testing and design of more complex systems were also a large part of this position. Testing assemblies in CAD minimized fabrication time and also lead to increased quality and fitment of design. Used finite element analysis (FEA) to design parts based on specific loading constraints and specific configurations. Worked everyday with a multi-disciplinary group and optimized their strengths and skills accordingly. Communicated on a daily basis with supervisor using figures, notes, and data output on the status of the current project, problems, goals, and future ideas. Utilized engineering procedures and principles to determine cost, risk, and industrial suppliers for components.Fabricated a working prototype three wheeled electric vehicle that could lean similar to a motorcycle and adjust attitude depending on speed traveled. Integrated actuators, motors, and electronic control devices into the vehicle to operate the complex movements required. Tested and developed data based on the initial prototype to further enhance the next iteration as production neared. Ergonomics and safety were a high priority throughout the design and manufacturing process. Used knowledge of engineering processes and non-engineering processes (logistics, operations, business cost) to maximize working time and continuously maintain a steady work load. Analyzed statistical data and developed conclusions for optimized design and lean manufacturing concepts.

-Designed and built an Automated Catheter Processing System: a machine, designed to replace tedious human labor that precisely operated on high tolerance medical equipment to achieve an extraordinary quality final product. -Designed mechanical tests to Estimate Failure / Fatigue. -W.L. Gore was extremely satisfied with our final working result. -Worked in groups and had to manage team members and conflicts within. -Used 3D modeling to illustrate and design parts that would be used in our final assembly. Also used FEA to estimate weak/failure points and redesign parts in SolidWorks before manufacturing.

Assisted with research, with regards to glaciers and changing land features. Self managed. Placed large volume image orders ($50,000+). Used UNIX to analyze images and write programs to process data. Included in various research papers on Glacier Recession and global climate change.
