"Care defined by lives transformed”.David Gaskin is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Seamen's Society for Children and Families. Founded in 1846 to care for the children of sailors in the Port of New York, Seamen's Society was one of the first organizations in the US to care for abandoned children in family settings, rather than institutions. Today, Seamen's Society for Children and Families is a comprehensive $28 million nonprofit organization that offers family foster care and adoption services, mental and behavioral health care services, preventive and family treatment/rehabilitation services, domestic violence intervention and counseling, health home care management services, tutoring and scholarship programs, and a new 3K/PreK school. The agency's 200 professionals serve over 1,250 children and over 500 families in the City of New York. David is also a Founder of Success Through Education and Preparation (STEP), a nonprofit foundation, created in 2005, that provided grants to gifted and economically disadvantaged students who were transitioning from a public school to a private high school. David's corporate background, with world-class organizations, includes 17 years with Vanguard, where he was a Principal of the company. Other notable positions were with leading Fortune 500 companies, including American Express, JPMorgan Chase and Johnson & Johnson. David is also a Trustee of The Velocity BioGroup Inc., a global biopharma advisory firm, and the Council of Family and Child Caring Agencies (www.COFCCA.org).David received his BA from Yale University, and his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. David grew up in New York City.
