I specialize in American music from the 1920's to the 1960's. I have been playing piano since 1966, and started on harmonica in 1976. I have played in various blues bands over many years, and have also played in other bands doing roots, rock, old country and other styles. I played harmonica and keyboards with Teeny Tucker from 2007 to 2017, playing major blues festivals in the US, Canada, and Europe. I am a full-time member of the four-piece electric blues band John Henry and the Rainmakers, and the three-piece acoustic band Rainmakers Blues Trio. I also guest on harmonica (and sometimes keyboards as well) with The Don Norman Band (50's blues), Lil Red and The Rooster (original blues) and other groups in central Ohio. I played harmonica and/or keyboards on three albums by Teeny Tucker, and Jason Blankenship's "Justified" album. 2021's "John Henry & The Rainmakers" album is a top-five finalist in the Blues Foundation's "Best Self-Produced CD" in the 2022 International Blues Competition. I am also available for private instruction and session work.
