I have 41 years of experience working for engineered-to-order manufacturing organizations. As of November 2015, GEA Rainey Solutions, a company within the GEA Air-Cooled Heat Exchanger Group has been renamed to Kelvion, Inc. As of February 2, 2024, I will have proudly worked 27 years at GEA Rainey Solutions (now Kelvion) as a Sr. Mechanical/Software Engineer. As a mechanical engineer, I am currently responsible for checking engineering designs or details of air-cooled heat exchangers and their support structures. In addition to being a mechanical engineer, I am a software engineer responsible for the development of several engineering applications which have significantly reduced engineering cost, and time and improved manufacturing efficiency. User input data and analysis results for all applications are stored and retrieved using database tables I designed using SQL Server database software. The collective proprietary name for these applications is called CALQLYS (pronounced Calculus).A major part of these applications includes automating the engineering design and detail drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD. I finished developing these applications back in 2003 with minimal code updates due to new AutoCAD releases and API (DLL) updates. I am now in the next-generation development phase. This phase includes parametric 3D modeling. Requirements include automating Autodesk Inventor 3D air-cooled heat exchanger models and their linked 2D detail drawings and BOM's. Flat patterns are automatically generated for CNC programming and BOMs are exported to a database application for Accounting cost analysis, inventory, and purchasing.
