My previous years of experience with the OnStar Geographic Information system and Location Based Services applications resulted in becoming knowledgeable of OnStar emergency services as the GIS application and services are key players in handling customer emergency calls. I was asked to join a new team with responsibility for implementing features defined by the OnStar Safety & Security business organization to enhance emergency services for advisors and customers. • As a technical lead and subject matter expert, I participated in design, development and deployment of new api and event based microservices to implement multiple business features to improve emergency and safety capabilities for our customers through advisor and self-service capabilities. - Ingest, map and publish FEMA IPAWS alerts, broadcasting to downstream applications that notify vehicles of urgent safety issues in immediate area. Assisted with testing and helped lead production issue triaging. - Integrate communication from Cruise vehicles to OnStar back office to provide data necessary to handle an emergency call to the OnStar advisor application. - Implement solution to reduce customer reliance on live advisors to report false alarms through deployment of new microservices and an akamai edge service• Designed and developed a major upgrade to the OnStar advisor application Injury Severity Prediction (ISP) algorithm and user interface to take advantage of additional vehicle and seat sensor data. • I led the initial implementation of OnStar crash data integration into US and MX 911 call centers through 3rd party provider. Integration involved publishing events to Pulsar topics. • I collaborated with business customers, architects and technical resources from many teams and organizations to share knowledge, design new integration features and implement solutions to improve advisor and customer interactions for both emergency and non-emergency call flows.

As the Subject Matter Expert for a legacy Location Based services monolith application, I participated in requirements gathering, UI design sessions, software design and development in a multi-phase project to migrate to microservices architecture with a Google Polymer client application. The first phase decomposed the monolith application into microservices and a client application, all independently deployed into WebLogic application container. My involvement spanned tasks from writing Polymer elements for the client application, to writing YAML and generating service APIs, to service development and testing in Spring Boot / Java 8. The second phase migrated the microservices to Pivotal Cloud Foundry. Through training and working with teammates who were more experienced in these technologies and design strategies, I developed skills in Spring Boot, Java 8, Maven, Jenkins pipelines, Twelve-Factor app methodology, Test Driven Development, Cucumber for Java Functional tests and Gatling / Scala performance tests.I enjoyed these assignments much, as they allowed me to gain experience in more relevant technologies, architectures and methodologies and to then be able to help others on the team and other teams with the knowledge gained from that experience.

I led the integration of GM's Maven member services into the contact center advisor CRM application. This involved design and development of new Polymer screens connecting to Maven provided microservices to retrieve member and reservation data, as well as changes to the decision management engine in order to route calls correctly. Although I performed some software development tasks, my role was primarily as design and technical lead from requirements analysis through a successful deployment and warranty period. As an OnStar Geographic Information System (GIS) / Location Based Services (LBS) subject matter expert, I contributed to a Request For Quote (RFQ) proposal to various LBS suppliers for an enterprise wide solution. This particular proposal did not lead to a new supplier contract, but paved the way for a more ambitious project to move forward in 2018/19.I also worked on the integration of external service APIs for weather and place searches into the GIS / LBS web application and other services used by OnStar contact center advisors.I organized several team volunteer events at Gleaners Food Bank through TeamGM Cares.

I started my career at General Motors assigned to the Geographic Information System (GIS) enhancement and support team. In this role, I contributed to technical design and development of bug fixes, enhancements, and upgrades of ArcGIS and ArcSDE software. The team also configured new and upgraded server environments for all GIS related software. New internal and external REST services were integrated into the GIS application.

I participated on a team responsible for designing and developing Chordiant Customer Relationship Management (CRM) activity screens and business process flows for a new OnStar advisor CRM for the first time deployment of OnStars in China. This involved collaboration with the business analysts, business partners and testing teams assigned to the project. The technology included Chordiant workflow, Java, JavaServer Faces (JSF), Javascript, Oracle SQL and databases. As an OnStar Geographic Information System (GIS) / Location Based Services (LBS) subject matter expert, assisted architects with design decisions and task deliverables for the GIS platform. I performed development and integration work for a new GIS web application, including the deployment, configuration and indexing of a Lucene Solr search engine for millions of points of interest records. The Solr integration was delivered on time and with successful deployment and zero interruption to contact center advisors.
