Hiring Our Heroes Fellow
I had the extreme fortune to be accepted as a Fellow with Jacobs Engineering - Missile Defense Agency within IRES, through the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship program. I served as a Process Development Engineer with a remarkable team of talented and skilled individuals during this Fellowship. The talent, energy, and fun-loving atmosphere this team brings to the table was exceptional and I cannot thank them enough for my time and experience with them.
United States Marine Corps - Engineer Officer
Usmc-Deputy Director Operations Branch & Ground Element Officer - Marine Forces Command (Marforcom)
- Assist and advise executive leadership on military force generation, management, training, and readiness for all USMC ground forces. - Portfolios included future modernization initiatives for Ground Combat Tactical Vehicle Strategy (GCTVS), ground force capabilities and modernization of weapons, and technology. - I serve as a program manager and liaison to Headquarters Marine Corps agencies for acquisition and procurement processes for ground force capabilities. - Lead for command in Doctrine, Organization, Training, Material, Leadership and education, Personnel, and Facilities (DOTMLPF) process balancing all pillars against Marine Corps Force capabilities.- I am honored to serve as the Deputy Director surrounded by extremely talented and gifted members of our staff.
Usmc - Engineer Director And Future Operations Officer (J36 And J35)
One of the highlights of my Engineer career. This role exposed me to the corporate level of budget and resource management, and opened up my scope of understanding for OSHA safety practices, NEPA level environmental considerations, and Cultural Sensitivities while building in multiple US states, territories, and tribal lands along the US Southern Border and Puerto Rico. I was fortunate enough to lead an exceptional team of Engineers, Program Managers, and Project Superintendents for missions and projects in Direct Support of National Defense via DoD Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA) while supporting the Department of Homeland Security - US Customs and Border Patrol. Though outside of the Marine Corps while working at this Joint Services Command, I had an all-star team of Officers and Senior Enlisted personnel from across all the Service Branches. I thoroughly enjoyed working with private sector engineer firms, planners, land developers, and environmentalists, as well as working alongside US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and the USCBP agents daily.
Usmc - Future Operations Officer - 1St Marine Logistics Group (1St Mlg)
Though only stationed at 1st MLG for a very short time upon return from Afghanistan and my follow-on assignment to Joint Task Force North, I directly planned, organized, and executed 2 major service level exercises for 1st MLG and the subordinate Regiments. It was a new level experience directing Regimental Staff and Planning Officers across 5 separate regimental organizations.
Usmc - Team Leader - Foreign Security Force And Adviser Assistance Team (Sfaat) - Afghanistan
- Foreign Relations. I was honored to be hand-selected to serve as the Team Leader of a USMC Engineer Adviser Team to the very first Afghanistan Engineer Battalion (Kandak) in Helmand Province, Afghanistan - 215th Maiwand Corps. Through the diligence of my team, we took this newly created unit and helped turn them into a fully capable, agile, and a professional Military Engineering Battalion in just one year. - Accountability: I was directly responsible for the multi-million dollar set of US-purchased construction equipment, weapons, and facilities provided to this partnered foreign military unit, resulting in zero loss even through the austere combat conditions we experienced that year in Afghanistan. - Influencing and Leading: It is easy to motivate United States Marines, it was a broadening experience working to motivate senior foreign military leaders and their formations. I am a better leader/manager/director by having this unique experience.
Usmc - Operations Officer And Executive Officer - 1St Combat Engineer Battalion
My honored and second time to be assigned with the incredible Marines of the Super Breed. I was fortunate enough to serve as their Operations Officer during OEF Afghanistan in 2011, and work for the best boss I ever had in my entire career. He allowed me to have the autonomy to operate and fight his entire battalion that was spread over the entire Helmand Province of Afghanistan. - I oversaw all construction, demolition, mobility, counter-mobility, and force protection actions for the USMC division units and Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in Helmand.- I directly managed route clearance and explosive hazards reduction teams that went out daily to hunt down enemy hazards (i.e. road side bombs/Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)) for the entire province via our 3 Route Reconnaissance & Clearance (R2C) companies that included an Army company, US Marine Tank Company (1st Tanks), and our organic Mobility Company from 1st CEB. This directly saved countless lives and reduced injuries and equipment loss to all coalition forces using the province-wide road systems.- As the Ops-O, Executive Officer (XO), and as the Remain Behind Element Officer in Charge of the Battalion (RBE-OIC) I groomed and mentored 30 plus junior Marine Engineer and special staff officers helping build the next generation of field grade officers.
