Polymer engineer with extensive experience in designing, commercializing, and supporting manufacturing operations of elastic polymers. I have a PhD in polymer science providing a strong foundation in the fundamentals of polymer materials, processing, structure, and characterization. My career has focused polymerization of urethane-ureas for spandex fibers, multi-layer cast extrusion of elastomeric films based on olefins and styrenic block copolymers, as well as their associated laminations. This work has been global in scope with new product launches across multiple manufacturing sites for global customers.Key to my successes are strong interpersonal skills demonstrated through direct customer interactions whether via conference calls, in-person sales and technical meetings, or representation at tradeshows. Internally building strong relationships has made me a resource for global operations and allowed me to serve as manager of laboratory staff and mentor to junior engineers. I excel at communicating technical information to diverse audiences.Twenty years into my career I still have a keen interest in the science of polymers, I enjoy designing new products, exploring new technologies, being the technical expert for patent and IP issues, leading troubleshooting efforts with manufacturing, and deconstructing competitive products with the lab. Outside of the technical realm it is the comradery I enjoy most. Shared experiences bring us closer together. I find the bonds formed in a team working a difficult and complex project to be the most rewarding aspect of a job.
