I've been interested in the weather since 1st grade (so like a hundred years ago). My first weather class was Meteo 201 at Penn State in 1986. I did radio broadcasting for Campus Weather Service all 4 years. From 1989-1990, I successfully completed an internship at Accu-weather and was offered a job upon graduating, but declined.In June 1990, I accepted a position as an Operational / Radio Meteorologist for New England Weather Service (now defunct) in Hartford, CT. I subsequently became Assistant Director and also filled in as TV Meteorologist for WFSB-Channel 3 in Hartford and WGGB-Channel 40 in Springfield, MA. I obtained my AMS Radio Seal of Approval with 3 WTIC-AM weather forecasts.In 1998, I brief left the weather business and was hired as a Computer Programmer for Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT. The language used on the SAP project was COBOL. My job was to take legacy mainframe data and format it for the SAP platform. I was promoted to Programmer II but left to take a full time position as Aviation Meteorologist with UPS in Louisville, KY,I worked at UPS Airlines from 2000-2006 and gained valuable experience forecasting thunderstorms, snow/ice, Santa Ana winds, fog and frost. We lived in Louisville from 2000-2002 but then moved to Phoenix, AZ. For the next 4 years I was able to utilize UPS jump-seats to commute to and fro.After having my son in 2005 and missing almost his first full year, I left UPS and went to Phoenix full time. Having been a part-time eBay seller since 1998, I decided to make it a full-time venture. This lasted through 2011 at which time sales declined as other on-line platforms emerged. Since graduating college, I tutored high school and college students in most levels of mathematics. With many start-up charter and private schools in Phoenix, I decided to teach Math and was employed part-time from 2011 through the Corona Pandemic. One of my students in 2015 informed me that his dad was driving Uber and was making decent side money. I decided to hop on that band-wagon and from 2015 through early 2022, most of my full-time work was driving. It was fun and I met a lot of people and have endless stories to tell.Early in 2022, I decided to get back into the weather field full-time before it was too late. I flooded every weather company with my resume. After many rejections, I finally secured an interview with FedEx Express and was subsequently hired as an Aviation Meteorologist once again. I relocated from Phoenix to Memphis, TN for the position and where I am as of October 2022.
