When you start your accounting career it has a heavy focus on compliance and reporting, these still remain as you layer in more experience, however your expertise extends beyond numbers, and rather than just being the custodians of the balance sheet, we become a catalyst for commercial and business transformation. For me, it's about embracing the ethos of business partnering, ensuring that what we are trying to achieve is at the intersection of numbers and strategy, we are not simply churning through the data, but that we are actually turning the data into actionable insights to propel the business forward. I embrace an open and collaborate work environment, one that values ideation and collaboration, which leads to innovation and a culture of inclusivity. I see myself as a modern-day accountant, a finance professional that looks to be a conduit for change, valuing the importance of integrating financial strategy into the fabric of the company vision and values to ensure strategic success. My skillset encompasses technical expertise, leadership qualities, and strategic vision. The cornerstone principles of working capital, cashflow, funding and treasury management, alongside financial reporting and compliance are fundamental. However, people management, cultural development and strategic vision are so important in today's work environment. As senior finance leaders it is on our shoulders to ensure that a harmonist balance exists, and that we all get enjoyment and thrive in our working lives.
