Key responsibilities included resolving and progressing allocated helpdesk calls, supporting new upgrades/enhancements to the systems, ensuring that peripherals are up to date and fully functional and managing daily backups of all TOL Servers. Additionally, a flexible attitude, good organisational skills and excellent interpersonal skills were essential in assisting the role to achieve results in a busy and demanding environment. As I was the only member of the IT department based in London I transferred my skills learnt as a Telecoms Analyst to this job and help out with any telecoms related issues when necessary. I was also involved in any network infrastructure, web content management and ticketing and retail problems that needed assistance on site.

My role included supporting and troubleshooting the new Alcatel telephone system. Although I was primarily based at Hampton Court Palace my job required me to travel to all the London Palaces including the Tower of London, Banqueting House and Kensington Palace. I was also required to manage and supervise some of the cabling projects within the organisation and communicate with relevant parties. Other duties included billing and contract renewals with mobile phones, IVR creation for automated attendants and regular monitoring of call loggers. I also did some of the hands on engineering work around the palaces which involved jumpering new lines when requested. With my prior knowledge to computing I also helped with computer related issues when the team was stretched. As I was one of two members of a team I was regularly solely responsible for the day to day running and support of any telecoms related issues. Using my web skills learnt at university I have created a successful system using php/mysql for the aid of free seating.

Burgh Heath, Surrey

I worked for Toyota (GB) Plc where I was employed as a general support analyst. My job involved supporting over 250 dealership networks nationwide with Microsoft NT and 2003 environments. By using remote software and deployment tools, we supported a vast number of systems which were all ran on XP workstations. We were required to meet strict Service Level Agreements, with the aim of achieving a first time fix within 15 minutes. Good telephone manner and customer communication was vital. The second part of my role as a general was supporting a Dealer Management system named V8 which is run on either Linux or Unix platforms, so understanding of the operating systems and commands was needed. I was required to work Tuesdays to Saturdays as part of the general support role.

Southwark, London

I was part of the Applications and Systems support team of the OTSU responsible for the ICT support for seven different sites around London. I primarily worked as an IT support officer, solving problems from simple network issues to maintenance and upgrading of PC’s and servers, either being MS NT 4.0 or 2000. I also helped develop software applications in MS Access and in PHP/ MSSQL, which were to be used within the department. I gained valuable experience in team working, problem solving and multitasking. I was also expected to commute offsite whenever assistance was needed at another location.
