NCFE acquired Skills Forward (previously For Skills) in 2016 to add diagnostic assessments of students' prior knowledge of Functional Skills (vocational English, Maths & IT) and English & maths vocational and GCSE qualifications. Skills Forward was a strategic acquisition to strengthened NCFE extensive English & maths portfolio to our customers in colleges, independent training providers and schools.Skills Forward is one of the UK’s leading eLearning software and e-assessment solutions and was the first company to introduce an online Functional Skills package in the UK. Last year they provided over 2.9 million assessments to the post-16 employability and skills sector.Its unique assessments, resources and summative assessments can transform how education providers approach Functional Skills, GCSE and the employability skills development of learners.The Skills Forward eLearning, assessment and skills development platform software is used by colleges, training providers and employers who want accurate assessments of learner ongoing progress. The platform enables providers to digitally capture evidence of a learner’s skills, knowledge and occupational competency and supports their further skills development with high-quality resources.After acquisition I became the non-executive chair of Skills Forward and under NCFE's tenure it developed a single e-assessments for the simultaneous diagnosis of a students English & maths capability against Functional Skills and GCSE qualification specifications. Other achievements included a re-brand of the business, recruiting a leader from an independent training provider to be Managing Director, investment into the people and culture, investment through infrastructure integration through group support for IT, sales, finance, HR, Compliance and Audit, Marketing, Facilities Management and Innovation Management.I stepped as Chair when I left NCFE in April 2019.
