Our communities deserve better. Though healthcare represents one-fifth of the US economy, access to high quality, affordable and equitable care delivered with modern tools and service experiences lags. Yes, healthcare is complex, highly regulated and slow to change. But we can do better by combining the discipline of innovation with our collective creative genius and commitment to making positive impact. I’m a creative pragmatist who values a human-centered approach to exploration and a systems approach to getting things done. Bringing together diverse teams and networks of technical experts and creatives to solve what some believe are impossible problems in healthcare gets me out of bed. Healthcare is my lifelong vocation and what fuels much of what I do and who I am.Throughout my career, I’ve worked at every scale of healthcare imaginable – from the bedside as a clinical ethicist, to the cabinet room designing delivery systems in global settings. At whatever scale, I’m reminded that unlocking human potential and breaking down barriers by engendering trust and true partnership are key to solving real-world problems.At Kaiser Permanente, I’m privileged and grateful to work alongside seasoned executives and true clinical experts who are challenging the status quo, developing cutting edge practices and working with heart to transform healthcare.
